The Book Theif

(7)
The Book Theif is an excellent book about World War 2, but its from a German girl's perspective. The story is about the girl growing up in Germany during the 30's and 40's, and throughout the book she pursues her love of reading and writing. Her foster father teaches her how to read, even though he himself only has a 4th grade education. Though poor, the foster parents manage to give her two books of her own, and the girl also steals books form Nazi book burnings. The story is excellent, and has an interesting twist because it is narrated by death. Death is protrayed as a color loving and serious being, not at all like the Grimm Reper or some other wicked creature. I give it a 7, so middle schoolers are the best age for the book. The books contains language and mild violence, as well as theft. Over all, The Book Theif is a fantastic story for more mature readers.

Intro

Since I'm a bookworm, I know how difficult it is to find books with wholesome content. I want to share the great books I have found with others who want to have books for their children (or themselves) to read and not worry about inaapropiate themes. I will use a system to show good books for certain ages: 1-3 for young children, 4-6 for elementary, 7-8 for middle school, 9- 10 for adults or high school. I hope you find some books that interest you on this site, and happy reading!
